Ratnagiri Hill, Barsana

The Ratnagiri hill covers an area of 150 acres and located in the midst of the Mataji Gaushala, more than 50 thousand cows are sheltered and cared for in their last leg of life at the base of the hill which is part of the Aravalli range, was might have been a dry deciduous forest is now a severely degraded land strewn with the invasive Prosopis juliflora or vilaiti keekar. Our team recorded the flora surviving on this hill and drew a list of plants that will be raised here. A nursery has been built to grow native flora and each year more species will be grown to cater to the restoration. We started this project in November 2020 with the support of Mataji gaushala, friends and well-wishers.
